Boss Steve Cooper felt Nottingham Forest should have had a penalty as they came away with a 0-0 draw from their trip to Preston North End.
The Reds were not at their best at Deepdale, but still came away with a point on the road as goalkeeper Ethan Horvath made some good saves on his first appearance since September.
And it could have been more had a decision gone their way in the opening 10 minutes against the Lilywhites.
Striker Keinan Davis went down under a challenge from Sepp Van Den Berg, but referee Geoff Eltringham waved away his appeals.
“Maybe it flustered us a bit,” Cooper said. “The lads were aggrieved, and it was a big talking point at half-time in the dressing room.
“Keinan has turned, he’s in the box, he’s an attacker, he’s a goal scorer, he’s a finisher, why would he go down?
“There’s been a lot of them this year.
“They say it evens out, but we’re going to have to have a lot of penalties between now and the end of the season.”
Forest had made a bright start in the north west, but lost their way somewhat after the penalty decision went against them.
“I thought we started well. We were really on the front foot and looked like the team which wanted to get a foothold first,” said Cooper.
“We got in some good areas. I thought we should have had a penalty - it was a pivotal moment. Too many decisions have gone against us like that in recent moments.
“To be fair to them, they’ve come back into the game, and 0-0 was probably the right scoreline at half-time. Apart from us having a penalty shout, Jimmy (Garner) had a decent chance as well.
“But then we never got going in the second half.
“They put the pressure on, but we didn’t help ourselves. We turned the ball over too much, our throw-ins were poor and with some of our build-up play we weren’t connected enough. We didn’t make enough forward runs where we dragged them out of areas.
“Because of that, we just couldn’t get any rhythm in the game.
“But Ethan has made a good save and they missed a decent chance soon after, but apart from that, they haven’t threatened much more than that.
“We’ve kept a clean-sheet away from home. It could have been better, but it could have been worse.
“A point on the road - my gut feeling is accept it and move on.”
