Everyone made the obvious connection between Stetson Bennett and Matthew Stafford during the draft on Saturday. They both played quarterback at the University of Georgia. However, they have another thing in common: They each won a championship at SoFi Stadium, the Rams’ home venue.
On Feb. 13, 2022, Stafford and the Rams won Super Bowl LVI against the Cincinnati Bengals. Less than a year, on Jan. 9, 2023, Bennett won a ring of his own in the College Football Playoff National Championship, leading the Bulldogs to a dominant 65-7 win over the TCU Horned Frogs.
Bennett played exceptionally well in that win, completing 18 of his 25 passes for 304 yards with four touchdown passes and two rushing scores. The game got so out of hand that the Bulldogs pulled their starters early in the fourth quarter, but Bennett was still named the offensive MVP of the game.
