A stepmother has been handed a 12-year prison sentence for the manslaughter of a five-year-old girl, a crime committed almost 50 years ago.

Janice Nix, 67, was sentenced at Isleworth Crown Court on Friday for scalding Andrea Bernard to death in a hot bath as a punishment in Thornton Heath, south London, back in 1978.
