St Mirren boss Stephen Robinson has admitted that striker Eamonn Brophy is unlikely to be involved in this weekend’s Scottish Premiership opener.
Brophy was meant to play against Edinburgh FC on Saturday but the former Kilmarnock man was pulled out of the squad on game day.
Robinson was careful to say it’s not a big issue but he felt it was not worth the risk.
He told Renfrewshire Live Sport: “Eamonn wasn’t quite right.
“We mollycoddled him through pre-season and hoped he would be okay but it’s not a big issue.
“We couldn’t risk it with his injury history.
“He hasn’t got the game time he wanted but it’s better than being injured for six or seven weeks.
“It’s just a general tightness from a lack of training.
“He hasn’t played a single game all pre-season so it’s very unlikely he will feature this week.“
