Stephen Mulhern experienced a "real Liverpool sense of humour" during a visit to the city.
The much loved TV presenter was spotted on Church Street on Wednesday, May 26 filming new episodes of In For a Penny. Stephen, 45, travels the country for the popular ITV gameshow and sets tasks for members of the public as they bid to win big money.
Stephen tweeted ahead of his visit to the city: "I’m currently heading to Liverpool to start filming the brand new series of In For a Penny! We’ll be going all over the country! What city do you want me to visit?"
Lesley Davis, 43, and her son Reuben, eight, were among the fans to head down to the city centre on Wednesday in the hope of seeing Stephen and catching a glimpse of the gameshow being filmed.
Lesley, who works as a teaching assistant at Redgate Primary School in Formby, told the ECHO: "I work in a school in Formby, once I finished me and my son took the train and luckily we found him. We got a couple of photographs, obviously we didn't actually speak to him in person as he was so busy filming the scenes or games with members of the public.
"It was just good to be in the atmosphere. You got a real Liverpool sense of humour from the crowd joining in when they could cheering and clapping.
"You don't often see famous people. It was nice to be able to see things like that happening again."
