Celtic B boss Stephen McManus applauded his players for refusing to get involved in the madness against Rangers after their opponents finished the Lowland League derby with eight men on the pitch.
Celtic came from behind to win the final B-team derby of the season but it descended into madness at Ibrox. The hosts led 1-0 before shotstopper Lewis Budinauckas saw red for handling the ball outside his box, and after the Hoops took a 3-1 lead, Bailey Rice and Adam Devine - both of whom have minutes for Michael Beale's first team under their belt - walked for second bookings.
The win keeps Celtic in touch with fifth-tier leaders Spartans and McManus was delighted his team swerved the chaos and picked up a professional 3-1 win. He told Celtic TV: "We were professional. We didn't want to get caught up in anything that was going to happen, whether it was silly bookings or for us to get one of our boys sent off.
"The most important thing for us was keeping our discipline and trying to play the way we want to play. I felt we did that, especially in the second half."
His opposing number David McCallum though directed his fury at the officials with Budinauckas' red card in particular in the firing line. He said: "I saw it at the time and we had video at the side of the pitch. Ridiculous decision. I spoke to Lewis at half-time, if you are going to make big decisions you need to get them right. It is clearly at very worst over the line, as in on the line as he catches it.
"The next step takes him into the box. To make a big decision like that at that stage of the game, where we were excellent up until that point and clearly ahead, that changes the game."
