Stephen Kenny has been put on red alert as Irish Under-21 Tom Cannon scored again on Monday night.
Cannon partners Troy Parrott up top for the Championship side and moved to the Deepdale on loan in January.
Since then, the 20-year-old has scored six goals in his last six appearances and fired Preston up the table.
The Everton loanee opened the scoring on Monday as Preston ran out 2-1 winners against struggling Reading and now sit in seventh place in the Championship and a win this weekend against Milwall would see them move into the playoff spots with just four games to go.
The Liverpool born striker made two Premier League appearances with his parent club before his loan move.
And his good form will give Stephen Kenny food for thought come the end of the season as he continues to perform alongside Troy Parrott.
