Stephen Humphrys Hearts injury latest as Robbie Neilson gives update on squad ahead of RFS clash

Robbie Neilson admits Hearts are still 'touch and go' with a couple of players as he delivered an update on Stephen Humphrys ahead of facing RFS.

The Jambos welcome the Latvian outfit to Tynecastle as they bid to make it home and away wins over the bottom seeds in the Europa Conference League section while looking to keep qualification hopes alive with Fiorentina and Istanbul Basaksehir going head to head in the early kick-off. Should the Italian outfit fail to win coupled up with a home win in Gorgie it would take qualification hopes down to the final round of fixtures.

Hearts have been hit hard with injuries this season so far as they look for a return to form after a sticky few months of results. Neilson's side has been stretched due to the numbers in the treatment room as he provided a latest update on his squad for the showdown. Speaking in his post-match media conference, he said: “We are still touch and go with a couple of them.

“We have a few back in and a few out so we will wait and see tomorrow and then make a decision. We still have a bit of time before the game so there will be a few in.”

Asked if Humphrys will make it, the Tynecastle boss replied: “Potentially. He is one of the ones we are still waiting on at the moment.”

Lawrence Shankland and Alan Forrest grabbed the goals in Riga to give Hearts their only win in the group and they hope to repeat that feat in front of a packed out Tynecastle.

The boss added: “Whenever you play at Tynecastle, whether it's a European game, a league game or a cup game, you need to go and try to win it. This is an opportunity to do that.

“We got a great result over there against RFS and we hope to do the same.”
