The Warriors reached the second round of the 2023 NBA Playoffs despite various moments during the season where it appeared they’d miss the postseason altogether.
Mostly healthy and playing some of its best basketball of the season, Stephen Curry hasn’t forgotten about the slew of pundits who cast doubts over Golden State’s chances this year. After his historic 50-point performance guided the Warriors past the Kings in Game 7 on Sunday, Curry had a bold response for those who wrote off the Warriors.
“Not as long as I’m still breathing,” Curry said to Yahoo Sports, in response to a question about Golden State being written off.
So long as Curry is suiting up for the Warriors, the team stands a chance against any opponent. That much was made clear on Sunday night, and the sentiment was echoed by members of the organization including Klay Thompson and head coach Steve Kerr.
The 35-year-old is fresh off one of the best postseason games of his illustrious career, and he’ll be looking to further prove his doubters wrong when up against LeBron James and the Lakers in the Western Conference semifinals. Game 1 is set for Tuesday at 10:00 p.m. ET at the Chase Center.
