Stephen Bradley insists Shamrock Rovers will strive for Europe's knockout stages after preserving their impeccable home record.
The Hoops bowed out of the Europa League last night but not before inflicting a Scorpion-like sting in the tail on Ferencvaros.
Andy Lyons scored with a bullet header with a minute to go as Rovers made it four wins from four on home soil this summer.
And that is why Bradley feels that Rovers can more than make their mark in the Conference League group stage when they will be third seeds in today’s draw in Istanbul.
West Ham, Villareal, Fiorentina, Basel and AZ Alkmaar are among the stronger teams that Shamrock Rovers can face.
But Bradley said: “We want to try and get out of the group. We are not going there to make up the numbers.
“We have said from pre-season that we want to go groups, but we want to go groups to win games.
“You need the draw obviously to help you, but we are going there to win games and to do our very best to get out of the group.”
Bradley was delighted to bow out of the Europa League proper on a high after seeing off Hungarian giants Ferencvros on the night, if not over the tie.
“We knew we were against a good side, but we felt it wasn’t a 4-0 last week. We felt we could go tonight and win the game.
“And to be fair to the players they stepped up and won the game and kept this fantastic run going. It’s another big win in Europe for us.”
“We just needed to be more aggressive in our positions. Last week we gave them too much respect and when you give a team like that space they hurt you.
“We came away from what we usually do, we needed to be more aggressive and tonight we were. Our shape was a lot better in transition and obviously we got our rewards.”
Justin Ferizaj, 17, was awarded man-of-the-match after a brilliant display on only his second competitive start for the Hoops.
Bradley said: “We’ll see. He’s got real ability, but the pleasing thing is he has come in and got his head down and worked hard and listened.
“Tonight you could see that he really listened to the tactical side of it.
“We know he has ability so he has got to stay focused, work hard and hopefully he will have many more nights like this for this club.
“Alan Mannus was brilliant again. He made two or three really good saves. But I keep saying it, that’s what he does in big moments. He shows up and he was excellent.”
Ferencvaros goalkeeper Adam Bogdan, previously at Liverpool, said: “Our opponents had a lot more chances in the second-half.
“Maybe in our subconscious we knew the 4-0 lead could impact our performance and I think it did.
“Shamrock Rovers were very patient today. They wanted revenge and to take the win today. As time passed, our focus got lower.”
