Stephen A. Smith has had a lot of partners on ESPN, but he’s still got a few that he’d love to sit across which he just shared.
Smith was a guest on the August 14 episode of “Podcast P,” the podcast of NBA All-Star Paul George, and was asked which former NBA player he would like as a debate partner. Smith was quick to mention Charles Barkley, the NBA Hall of Famer and renowned analyst on TNT, but he mentioned another outspoken NBA legend who retired much more recently than Barkley.
“The person that I would love to sit on a set with me or across from me any day of the week is Kevin Garnett,” Smith said.

The 15-time NBA All-Star is known to be one of the fiercest competitors in the history of the NBA, but Smith also admires Garnett’s media capabilities.
“Being real is one thing but your ability to articulate your position with presence and force matters,” Smith said of Garnett.
Garnett has been present in the media since his retirement in 2016. It started with “Area 21,” a segment on NBA’s TNT coverage that saw Garnett have candid interviews with NBA and WNBA stars.
He’s now working with Showtime Basketball and has a show called “KG Certified.”
