She told us: “Yeah, it’s been very difficult. I’ve been really balancing my own football training and dance training but in terms of my coaching business. I’m very lucky Dean and his dad have been very hands on helping me out managing different things…
“Like we do after school programmes and we’ve a camp coming up in February and we’ve to organise for the midterm break so…
“That’s probably the only thing I can take a back seat from. In terms of my football training, it’s in full swing. It’s been tough because Monday and Tuesday’s we are in the gym and on the pitch in the evening and then obviously I’m in dancing Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday so it has been hard trying to get the balance of that. We’re three weeks in now so I’m getting used to it.
“Definitely a tired body, particularly on a Wednesday morning. Wednesday is usually the day we have to get everything fine-tuned but it tends to be Thursday now.”
But she said Shamrock Rovers bosses have been amazing to her and her team-mates have been so supportive.
“Shamrock Rovers have been brilliant. They adapt in terms of what I’ve done all day.
“They’ve been really good. I haven’t had any stick from that just yet. The odd time they might smile at some of the stuff I have to wear but they’ve been good and very supportive. The group messages are flying.
"They’re always texting and voting for me and stuff. They’ve been brilliant because I think they know more than anybody knows the difficulties of it in terms of your comfort zone and being from the background I’m from.
“I think they’ve been very supportive from the girls in the Irish team to the girls from shamrock rovers and even the Peamount girls have been texting a lot as well so it’s just great to have that.”
Stephanie started her Dancing With The Stars journey with low scores from the judges but has since improved every week since.
“I think it was perseverance. I think for me coming into the show I wanted to improve week on week. I’ve never ever danced before. I’ve never danced as a kid in terms of going to camps or anything like that.
“It was always just football that took over my life.
“So I had to just in my mind say let’s get better week on week and I’m proud to say that I’ve done that. I think I’ve improved, I’ve shown more confidence. I’ve tried to listen to the judges’ comments.”
She said playing sports can help her cope with criticism from the judges.
“It can be very easy to get down when you get bad comments.”
And she kept her cards close to her chest when asked if
“I don’t know what about that. I’ll take it one week at a time and we’ll see how it goes.”
