Steph's Packed Lunch's Steph McGovern's life off screen from TV executive girlfriend to two-year-old daughter

Steph McGovern has become a familiar face for those living in Leeds after the launch of her daytime programme Steph's Packed Lunch's for Channel 4.

But exactly who is the beloved host?

Steph wasn't always set out to be a talk show host or enter broadcasting at all.

The 39-year-old, who was born in Newcastle but proudly grew up in Middlesbrough, actually looked to enter the world of engineering.

She had won an impressive scholarship that highlighted a potential for her to become a leader in the industry, going on to then bag an award at just 19 for Young Engineers Clubs' 'Young Engineer for Britain'. She's even an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering.

She continued to gain plenty of praise for her work in the field and so it was a strange twist when she chose to head to University College in London in 2005.

There she studied Science Communication and Policy, and that took her to the BBC.

She was only in part-time employment on BBC's Tomorrow's World when she was offered the role as the main producer for daily financial news on Radio 4's Today programme.

Working as the lead producer of business news at BBC news, she worked closely with names like Robert Peston.

Steph is now known for shows like BBC Breakfast, Shop Well for Less and Watchdog Live on top of Steph's Packed Lunch.

But it seems engineering and broadcasting aren't her only talents.

She's actually a champion Irish dancer and still does help coach up-and-coming dancers.

She's attended many an international competition.

The chatty star has always kept her personal life out of the spotlight and hasn't ever revealed her partner's name or shared social media snaps.

The host has revealed that her girlfriend is a TV executive and the pair welcomed a baby in 2019.

Steph had a difficult pregnancy, revealing on Giovanna Fletcher's podcast Happy Mum, Happy Baby, that she had to tell her colleagues before she wanted to, as she suffered from extreme morning sickness.

Steph is now thought to live in Harrogate and told The Sun's MyLife in 2021: "Before I had a baby I was a workaholic.

"Now Saturdays and Sundays are about my partner and my daughter. My perfect Saturday is taking my little girl swimming, then we’ll go out for lunch with her, which is chaos but we pretend it’s fine.”
