Steph McGovern has told how she “threw up” in a 10 Downing Street toilet after dancing with Kylie Minogue before heading to a star studded bash at Chris Evans' party pad.
Speaking on her own show, Steph’s Packed Lunch on Channel 4, the presenter poked fun at her own drunken behaviour which saw her partying with colleagues from her radio job alongside Chris Evans.
But her worlds collided when mid partying she heard from her boss that she had an interview slot with then Prime Minister Gordon Brown the following morning.
Attending the gig she said: “Kylie was there, I was literally living my best life… I was drinking, I’d taken the next day off work but obviously as a journalist you can’t take days off if news happens.
"I got a phone call from… Robert Peston… He said, ‘We’ve got an interview with the Prime Minister in the morning, you need to get it organised but you can’t tell anyone, you need to get a camera man or woman there for me at number 10.’”
In her hazy state somehow the pro presenter managed to phone her newsdesk to draft in a camera crew for the interview but rather than head home to sleep off the inevitable hangover she partied harder undeterred to miss out on a once in a life-time night out.
Steph continued: “I was hammered. I rang the news desk to organise the cameras… They were like ‘You’re drunk, Steph, you need to go home’... When I’d finally organised the camera crew, I put the phone down and was like I’m not going home yet, I’m dancing with Kylie Minogue, this is never going to happen again in my life…"
But the hilarious encounter continued after partying all night she was ferried from the luxury bash place to Number 10 in one of Chris Evans’s spy 100 Ferrari cars.
Surprisingly Steph, managed to hold it together for the car journey and the interview but then things got messy.
She laughingly added: “And I threw up in the loo of Number 10… But still, the interview went well!”
And under very different circumstances a decade later she also vomited in the BBC Breakfast Studio.
When suffering from morning sickness she recalled the time she projectile vomited her breakfast all over the studio right before they were due to go on-air.
The mum-to-be felt like she had to break the news of her pregnancy to her colleagues after they all believed she was just hungover.
Steph’s Packed Lunch airs weekdays at 12.30pm on Channel 4 and All 4.
