The Golden State Warriors won their fourth straight game on Friday (Dec. 22) when they faced the Washington Wizards. One of the biggest narratives heading into the contest was Jordan Poole‘s return to the Bay Area and how he helped bring a championship to the Warriors in 2022.
Unfortunately for Poole, his former team ensured he didn’t have a fairytale return to the Bay Area as they put the clamps on him, limiting him to 33.3% shooting from the field and 25% shooting from 3-point range. Following the game, Steph Curry discussed what it was like facing off against his former teammate for the first time.
“We have a lot of history,” Curry said. “Love the dude and what he brought to the team. Brought back some good memories, obviously. I’m glad the fans gave him the response they did. It was really weird playing against him but it was fun. I hope he enjoyed the respect and the reception that he got.”
Poole’s tenure with the Warriors came to an end during the offseason, as he was traded to the Wizards as part of the deal to send Chris Paul to Golden State. Poole is still finding his feet with his new team and his role of being a primary ball handler.

Still, the Warriors navigated a tough situation in facing their former teammate and still managed to secure another win. Golden State are now 4-1 in their last five games and will have their sights on climbing up the Western Conference in the coming weeks and months.
