Steph Curry discusses seamless fit with Chris Paul

Steph Curry and Chris Paul have been working out together in Golden State Warriors practice sessions. The two guards are clearly trying to get on the same page ahead of the new season as they look to ease concerns of them being a potentially poor fit.

When speaking to the media on Thursday, Oct. 5, Curry discussed how his first week with Paul has shaped up at the practice facility. The superstar guard revealed the work has been fun and how he can see their partnership developing. However, Curry mentioned some challenges in figuring out how the Warriors match up with their opponents.

“It’s mad fun,” Curry said. “I get the rebound and push, I can throw it ahead in transition knowing he’s pretty sure with the ball. He makes the right decision. He’s been really good catching and shooting when he’s open, moving without the basketball. … It’s pretty seamless, really, to be honest. … There’s challenges in terms of how we match up, making sure we’re defensively sound and how we play on that end of the floor and how we adapt with the other three guys that are out there with us, whoever that is.”

Curry and Paul are expected to lineup alongside each other in the Warriors opening preseason game against the Los Angeles Lakers on Oct. 8. The All-Star guards will get their first real taste of how their on-court fit can work during that contest and figure out how to incorporate Klay Thompson. However, figuring out Draymond Green’s role will take longer as he recovers from an ankle injury.

Nevertheless, Warriors fans will get their first peak at a potential new starting back-court in the coming days as Steve Kerr looks to begin gathering data on how Curry and Paul perform against other elite teams in the NBA.
