The chief executive of radiator manufacturer Stelrad has urged the Government to take more action to help homeowners decarbonise their homes.
Newcastle-based Stelrad - which has more than 1,500 employees across its main manufacturing base in Mexborough, South Yorkshire, and sites in Holland, Italy and Turkey - says its products are central to how people across Europe will cope with rising energy costs. Trevor Harvey, CEO of Stelrad, has called for the Government to do more to aid the decarbonisation of homes, through help for more industry retraining as well as education programmes for the general public.
He said: “The energy crisis and decarbonisation are driving awareness of our products and services. Our purpose is to heat homes sustainably and we have an important role to play in facilitating the transition to low and zero carbon heating systems. Rising energy costs are sharpening consumers’ focus on more energy effiencient heating solutions and this, combined with the ongoing decarbonisation agenda is expected to drive increased long-term demand for our products.
