The Boston Celtics might have a little less in the way of potential suitors for veteran reserve point guard Dennis Schroder than some had anticipated with news that the Dallas Mavericks have their eyes on Toronto Raptors point guard Goran Dragic, according to Substack’s Marc Stein.
Stein relates that the close relationship between Dragic and fellow Slovenian Luka Doncic puts Dallas in a position to sign the former Miami Heat champion if he is bought out by the Raptors. They will have competition to sign him if he is bought out, but the Raptors are set on trying to find value for his $19.4 million expiring deal.
Despite this and that the Mavs are working to improve their roster with limited means of doing so, “acquiring Boston’s Dennis Schröder — whose expiring $5.9 million salary would fit comfortably into the exception created by trading Josh Richardson to the Celtics in July — is not in the club’s plans,” according to Stein.
The author has an alternative proposal that is so sweet it would be hard to say no — but would the Hawks even offer it? https://t.co/3gYXeNYbLz

Quite a few deals around the league are likely held up in a similar fashion as a number of interconnected clusters of players and the teams who hold their rights work to shake up their rosters with the best possible fit.
