Steelers vs. Browns injury report: Latest updates, news for Week 14

The Pittsburgh Steelers have a chance at redemption this weekend as they welcome the Cleveland Browns to Acrisure Stadium. As a painful reminder, the Browns convincingly defeated the Steelers 24-19 just 13 days ago.

The teams the 3-9 Browns have defeated are the Jacksonville Jaguars, Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh.

The Steelers should have a relatively healthy group as they aim to split the series.

Here’s a look at the first injury and practice participation report of Browns week:

Alex Highsmith injury update

Barring a setback, Alex Highsmith (ankle) is expected to suit up on Sunday.  Highsmith practiced for the first time last week since sustaining the injury in the Week 10 win over the Washington Commanders.

Highsmith has a tremendous career versus Cleveland with 52 total tackles (10 for loss), 10 QB hits, a forced fumble and a pick-six. Pittsburgh will need him to pressure Jameis Winston, who had his way with the defense in Week 12. Winston took only one sack and had the highest completion percentage (66%) since he took over for Deshaun Watson.

Calvin Austin III injury update

Calvin Austin took a huge hit by Bengals linebacker Akeem Davis-Gaither, penalized for pass interference on the play. Austin did return to catch a 23-yard touchdown in the second quarter but suffered another blow later in the game, leading to a concussion evaluation. His limited practice participation is a good sign, but it’s early in the week. Russell Wilson could use him since wide receivers not named George Pickens haven’t done squat.

Cory Trice injury update

All eyes are on Cory Trice, who needs to be activated from injured reserve Thursday or will miss the rest of the season for the second consecutive year. Trice hasn’t played since suffering a hamstring injury in the Week 3 L.A. Chargers contest.
