For the first time this offseason, one of Brian Gutekunst’s personnel executives will get an interview for an open general manager job.
According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, Packers co-director of player personnel John Wojciechowski will interview with the Pittsburgh Steelers for the team’s general manager opening.
Wojciechowski has spent 10 years with the Packers, including four as co-director of player personnel alongside Jon-Eric Sullivan. From 2012 to 2018, he was a college scout for the team. Gutekunst promoted him into the new role as he reshuffled the Packers front office in 2018.
Prior to coming to Green Bay, Wojciechowski spent nine seasons as a college scout for the Dallas Cowboys (2003-11) and five seasons as an area scout for the Jacksonville Jaguars (1998-2002).
The Steelers actually gave him his start in the NFL personnel world. He was a player personnel assistant for two seasons (1996-97) in Pittsburgh before departing for a scouting job in Jacksonville.
Wojciechowski, who has 26 years of experience in the NFL, is from suburban Pittsburgh.
Gutekunst was the Packers’ director of player personnel for two seasons under Ted Thompson before being named the new general manager in 2018.
