Steelers’ T.J. Watt praises Titans QB Will Levis after Week 9

Despite the Tennessee Titans dropping their Week 9 game to the Pittsburgh Steelers, the outlook for rookie quarterback Will Levis continues to be overwhelmingly positive.

Sure, Levis didn’t throw for any touchdowns after tossing four in his debut in Week 8, but the poise he showed while under duress in a primetime game on the road was enough to keep fans and media excited for his future.

An offer for Titans fans

Even Steelers superstar edge rusher T.J. Watt came away impressed with the rookie, who completed 22-of-39 passes for 262 yards and an interception.

“A lot of toughness. A guy that’s going to hang in there, take the hits, and deliver some really good passes,” Watt said, per Sam Phalen of AtoZ Sports. “He held onto it a little bit tonight, but he was able to escape with his feet a little bit and extend some plays. I think he’s going to have a good career.”

Watt, who had one helmet-less sack on Levis during the game, rightly points to one of the negatives of the Kentucky product’s night, which was his holding the ball for too long in some instances.

However, that and some other negatives, like being too aggressive when the situation didn’t call for it, weren’t enough to overshadow all the good Levis did.

After two strong showings in a row, Titans fans and media are unanimous in believing the rookie should get the nod the rest of the way, but head coach Mike Vrabel wasn’t ready to name him the starter on Friday.

But Levis getting the keys to the car for the final nine games is inevitable. There is literally no justification for going back to Ryan Tannehill, who doesn’t even give Tennessee the best chance to win at this point.
