With the hamstring injury to wide receiver Diontae Johnson, the Pittsburgh Steelers have signed Dez Fitzpatrick from the practice squad to fill the void on the roster.
This all but cements that Johnson will miss Monday night’s game against the Cleveland Browns. We don’t look for Fitzpatrick to have much impact on the offense this week. Johnson is a special talent and you don’t simply replace him with a practice squad player.
Buy Steelers TicketsSo what will the Steelers do without Johnson? We will dig more into this as the game gets closer but the responsibility to prop up the offense is going to fall on a whole cast of players. George Pickens, Allen Robinson II, Pat Freiermuth (if he plays), Connor Heyward and Najee Harris all have enough talent to keep this offense moving if Kenny Pickett.
Pittsburgh will also make a conscious effort to try to run the ball with more consistency and if the defense can do its part, Pittsburgh won’t be forced to throw the football as much.
