When the Pittsburgh Steelers take on the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, they will once again be short-handed at safety. On Friday, head coach Mike Tomlin announced that safety Trenton Thompson won’t play against the Seahawks and might not be available the following week against the Baltimore Ravens either.
This is just the most recent of the rash of injuries to befall the Steelers safety position. Pittsburgh will also be without Minkah Fitzpatrick who continues to deal with a knee injury. This is in addition to Keanu Neal who is also dealing with an injury and Damontae Kazee who is suspended.
This week the Steelers will once again look to some combination of Patrick Peterson, Eric Rowe and Elijah Riley to hold down the starting spots. Pittsburgh also has Miles Killebrew but he’s primarily a special teams ace.
