According to NFL reporter Ian Rapoport, the Pittsburgh Steelers have informed slot cornerback Arthur Maulet that he is being released. This is a point Maulet backed up on his Instagram.
The Steelers signed Maulet as a free agent in 2021 from the New York Jets. The plan was to have him replace Mike Hilton and in some ways he definitely did. Maulet excelled as a run defender but struggled in coverage and the Steelers have made a point to improve in coverage across the board.
During the 2023 NFL draft, the Steelers drafted cornerback Joey Porter Jr. and Cory Trice Jr. and also signed free-agent slot cornerback Candon Sullivan.
The #Steelers have informed veteran CB Arthur Maulet, with them since 2021, that he’s being released, source said. An experienced CB available.
