Steelers QB states the painfully obvious about Pittsburgh’s offense

With one game left in the preseason, it isn’t clear just who the leader is in the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback battle. Russell Wilson came into training camp in the pole position but at this point, it feels like a dead heat between Wilson and Justin Fields and both guys are stuck in neutral.

After Saturday’s loss to the Buffalo Bills, Fields talked to the media and offered what was perhaps the most obvious tidbit of information possible about what he and Wilson need to do to help with the struggling offense.

“If you don’t end a drive in points, none of it matters,” Fields said. “So score touchdowns, I think that’s the biggest thing.”

Yes, scoring touchdowns is definitely the biggest thing for the offense. So far, neither Fields or Wilson have gotten the Steelers offense into the end zone during the preseason.

If Fields wants to pass Wilson in the quarterback competition, he will have his opportunity this weekend against the Detroit Lions. Pittsburgh’s offense was supposed to be much better this season with a new OC and new quarterbacks but the contrary has been the case.
