While Mike Tomlin named Mason Rudolph the starter for Week 16, Kenny Pickett playing isn’t entirely out of the question.
Ian Rapoport reported on Saturday that the second-year quarterback has been pushing to play, and Tomlin shared in today’s press conference that his rehab is going well.
As usual, his quality of practice this week will dictate whether he suits up for the Cincinnati Bengals game. But Tomlin noted he’ll have to show he can move around in the pocket and protect himself.
Of course, Pickett wants to play. He sees his team struggling, and any good teammate wants to get in there to help. But given how poorly the offense has performed this season, it’s hard to see that a hobbled Pickett will provide them with the spark they so desperately need.
Tomlin said QB Kenny Pickett has been rehabbing well and his availability for Cincinnati "is not out of the question."
