Steelers Player Admits His Team Underestimated Cardinals in Listless Defeat

The Steelers suffered a rough loss to the hapless Cardinals on Sunday, as Arizona claimed a soggy 24–10 win in Pittsburgh.

While the game had unexpected circumstances, such as two weather delays and Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett’s suffering an ankle injury, Pittsburgh’s offense never seemed to click. It was the third consecutive game in which the Steelers only scored a single touchdown.

After the game, Steelers running back Jaylen Warren was asked if the team underestimated the Cardinals, who entered the game with just two wins compared to Pittsburgh’s seven.

“I guess just taking them lightly, lighter than we should have,” Warren said, via Steelers Now’s Nick Farabaugh.

The Steelers (7–5) face another losing team in the 2–10 Patriots on Thursday night at Acrisure Stadium. Warren hopes Pittsburgh players can be on the same page for that game and produce a different result.

“Just acknowledging what it was, why we came in like that,” Warren said. “I’m assuming nobody likes this feeling after a loss like that to a team like that. We each gotta get on the same page and get to work.”

It’s likely coach Mike Tomlin will expect better effort from his players after calling the Steelers’ Sunday performance “JV football.”

Warren carried the ball nine times for 59 yards during Sunday’s loss.
