Steelers Optimistic T.J. Watt Will Play Against Ravens

Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker T.J. Watt (90) sits on the field after an injury during the second half of an NFL football game against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, Dec. 15, 2024, in Philadelphia

Pittsburgh Steelers coach is optimistic that star linebacker T.J. Watt's ankle injury won't sideline him for the upcoming game against Baltimore. Watt twisted his left ankle during the team's recent loss to Philadelphia but X-rays came back negative, providing some relief. Despite the injury, Watt was seen moving around the facility without much trouble, indicating a potential quick recovery.

Watt's performance in the game against Philadelphia was commendable, as he managed to secure two sacks and force a fumble. Coach Tomlin defended his decision to keep Watt in the game even when the team was trailing, emphasizing the importance of playing to win.

In addition to Watt's injury, the Steelers are also monitoring the status of wide receiver George Pickens, safety DeShon Elliott, and defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi. Pickens has been dealing with a hamstring issue, which has impacted the team's passing game. Quarterback Russell Wilson's passing yardage has significantly dropped in games without Pickens, highlighting the receiver's importance to the offense.

As the Steelers prepare for their upcoming matchup, the potential return of Pickens, Elliott, and Ogunjobi to practice this week could provide a much-needed boost to the team. With a record of 10-4, Pittsburgh is currently leading the AFC North and will look to bounce back from their recent loss with a strong performance against Baltimore.
