Steelers lose to Bengals in second half collapse

Sunday’s 37-30 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals was truly a tale of two halves for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Pittsburgh came out of the gates swinging and went toe to toe with the Bengals and took a 20-17 lead into halftime.

But everything fell apart for the Steelers in the second half. The offense in particular was anemic and put the defense in a pinch drive after drive. At first, the Steelers defense did its part to keep pace and keep giving the offense a shot. However, the offense couldn’t get things moving and eventually the defense got tired and Cincinnati took advantage.

Quarterback Kenny Pickett had his best half of football in the first half throwing for 141 yards. Unfortunately, he finished the game with 265 yards thanks to a late garbage time drive that netted the final touchdown.

Defensively you could really see this unit wear down. With inconsistent pressure on Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, he was able to pick the secondary apart and finish with 355 passing yards and four passing touchdowns.

The Steelers now sit at 3-7 and dead last in the AFC North. There are no playoffs to strive for after Sunday’s loss. Now the Steelers must prepare to travel to Indianapolis and take on the Colts in Week 12.
