Is it ever too soon to start talking about the 2024 NFL draft? NFL draft writer Glynn Morgan of NBC Sports doesn’t think so. He put out a far-too-early mock draft and you know we had to see what direction they went for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
In Morgan’s mock draft, he has the Steelers selecting Ohio State cornerback Denzel Burke with the No. 15 overall pick. Here’s what Morgan said about the pick.
Burke is a diligent pass defender with 17 passes defended over the past two seasons. His length, size and coverage acumen make him a legit pro prospect.
At this stage in the process, it’s less about the player and more about the position. If you think the Steelers would spend a top pick on a cornerback just a year after taking Joey Porter Jr. with the No. 32 overall pick, you are probably right. 2024 will probably be Patrick Peterson’s last season and if we assume Porter has supplanted Levi Wallace, Wallace might be gone or kicked inside to slot cornerback.
