Pittsburgh Steelers general manager Omar Khan is entering his second season as the team’s general manager but this will mark the first draft he has been in charge of. And you can tell in his pre-draft press conference he is excited about it.
“It’s a dream come true for me to be in this position,” Khan said. “I have been dreaming about it for a long time. But I feel ready.”
It might seem strange for a Khan to be a general manager for a full season and never run a draft but the whole situation last year was unique. Kevin Colbert made his intentions known he was stepping down but was given the option to stay through the 2022 NFL draft.
This time around the draft will belong to Khan, head coach Mike Tomlin and assistant GM Andy Weidl. This could mean a drastic change in draft philosophy for the historically conservative front office.
