Pittsburgh Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert got choked up in his Saturday press conference at the conclusion of the 2022 NFL draft. This will be Colbert’s final draft as the general manager of the Steelers as he now plans to step down.
Colbert teared up talking about his legacy with the Steelers, the proud history of this franchise and his contribution to that history.
Colbert has been in charge of the Steelers front office under one title or another since 2000. Colbert has been part of two Super Bowl champion rosters in Pittsburgh, a serious point of pride for him.
During the press conference noted he isn’t sure what is next for him but certainly didn’t close the door on staying with the franchise in some capacity. Next up for the Steelers is to start the second round of interviews with the crop of general manager candidates in an effort to hire Colbert’s replacement.
