The Cleveland Browns saw many of their personnel take home awards at the NFL Honors, including defensive end Myles Garrett who won NFL Defensive Player of the Year. And those who root for the Pittsburgh Steelers made sure everyone heard them cry that T.J. Watt did not win the award.
Apparently, those who follow the Steelers think voters should look at box scores instead of the actual film when casting their votes for who should win the award. Watt had more sacks than Garrett, but Garrett was quite evidently a more prevalent player that opposing teams had to identify, double-team, triple-team, and make a point of emphasis on Sundays.
Even Watt himself took to social media to take a victim mentality after receiving the news that he would not win the award over Garrett.
Here are the best, most cringe-worthy reactions from Steelers fans after their beloved Watt finished runner-up to Garrett for NFL Defensive Player of the Year.
After leading the league in almost-sacks, attaboys, and nice tries, Myles Garrett has been named NFL Defensive Player of the Year.

I hope Myles Garrett woke up satisfied with his Mickey Mouse DPOY today.

TJ Watt racking up DPOY snubs like Myles Garrett racks up almost-sacks

I rarely get upset over these awards because they’re not Lombardi’s and at the end of the day, that’s the only hardware that matters. But you can’t look at these stats and tell me Myles Garrett was more impactful than TJ Watt. He wasn’t. TJ Watt is the DPOY. https://t.co/dvPSiV8rUm

T.J. Watt has led the NFL in sacks in three of the last four years.
Yet he has only 1 DPOY award to show for it & he literally had to tie the NFL sack record to get that one.

The NFL robbed T.J. Watt again. #Rigged #Steelers #NFL

It’s absolutely no surprise that Myles Garrett won the #NFL DPOY
They have been pushing for him to be the face of the league for years now despite under performing!
It’s unfortunate, the TJ Watt was robbed AGAIN, despite leading in every stat that matter… pic.twitter.com/PP7Set0zxd

T.J. Watt really deserves to win the NFL Defensive Player of the Year award tonight but it feels like he’s going to get jobbed by the Associated Press and they will give it to Myles Garrett. #Steelers #NFL

DPOY to Myles Garrett over TJ Watt is a travesty!!
— George Von Benko (@VonBenko) February 9, 2024
Wait Miles Garrett won DPOY? Happy for the man BUT TJ Watt has better stats smh
— Depressed Steelers Fan⚡️ (@BOWt_loc152) February 9, 2024
TJ Watt
Danielle Hunter
Josh Allen
Khalil Mack
Trey HendricksonEach player had a better season than Myles Garrett… There’s no logical explanation to him winning #DPOY#NFL 100% sucks.

TJ should have DPOY #4 on the mantle this morning….smh
Stephon Gilmore 😅
Aaron Donald 😷
Myles Garrett 😵💫All have DPOY awards that rightly belonging to TJ Watt.
Injustice is injustice.

I’m not mad that Watt didn’t win DPOY, I mean whatever it is what it is. I’m just laughing because a bunch of dorks from Ohio made up numbers to make Garrett look better and voters who haven’t played fell for it, when Garrett didn’t lead Watt in ANY stat of significance
