When Pittsburg Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert spoke to the media after the first round of the 2022 NFL draft he acknowledged the team made some calls about moving up in the first round. The team ended up settling on staying put and drafted former Pitt quarterback Kenny Pickett in the first round.
Houston Texans general manager said they were a team in trade discussions with the Steelers in that first round. According to Caserio, the Texans were looking to make a move back to the No. 20 pick which would have positioned the Steelers better to select Pickett at No. 15 overall.
Thankfully, the Texans passed on the offer, concerned they would miss out on the guy they wanted and the Steelers were still able to get their guy later in the round.
Nick Caserio says the Texans had a chance to move from No. 15 to No. 20 (Steelers), but they were going to miss out on a group of players they liked and it made most sense to take the pick there.
