Despite how badly many fans want him gone, Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin isn’t going anywhere. Tomlin already told his team he plans to return and coach in 2024. We assume this was great news to players who all love playing for Tomlin. One guy who is glad Tomlin isn’t leaving is star outside linebacker T.J. Watt.
He made it very clear where he stands about Tomlin when he addressed the media the day after the team’s loss to the Buffalo Bills in the playoffs.
“I want to play for Mike T,” Watt said. “It was huge in my contract talks that I don’t want to play for anyone other than Mike T. You guys see the way I talk about how much I respect and appreciate him as a coach, man and leader.”
Regardless of how you feel about this team’s struggles in the playoffs, there is no doubt this is a team that wants to play for Tomlin. Why they don’t go out and play like that every week is a mystery but Watt and others seem fully committed to Tomlin and his way of doing business.
