The Pittsburgh Steelers held its annual Friday Night Lights practice this week. It’s a great opportunity for the fans to fill Latrobe Memorial Stadium and check out the team.
This Friday, the fans got a big surprise from former starting center Kendrick Green. Green lined up twice as a fullback on offense. He caught one pass out of the backfield and on another play made a crushing lead block. You might have thought the Steelers had been working all week but nope. Green said after the game this was a new wrinkle he was just told about the same day.
‘I found out yesterday, right before practice,” Green said. “I play center, so I know a lot of what they do anyway. That was my first time doing it. It was a good time. We’ll see. I don’t know.”
Green is currently squarely on the roster bubble after losing his starting job last season. Green noted after the practice on Friday night his fullback days were done but those in attendance at Saturday’s practice noted he was working with the running backs.
