I don’t know if there is a record for the most general manager candidates interviewed in a single offseason but the Pittsburgh Steelers have to be getting close. The team announced on Saturday three more interviews for the soon-to-be vacancy which brings the total to 16 vying to replace current general manager Kevin Colbert.
Jerry Reese last worked in the NFL in 2017. He was the general manager of the New York Giants from 2007-2017 and was the director of player personnel for the four seasons prior to that.
Rick Spielman was the general manager of the Minnesota Vikings from 2012- o 2021. He was terminated by Minnesota in January of 2022.
Finally we have Doug Whaley. Whaley was the general manager of the Buffalo Bills from 2013-2017. He hasn’t worked in the NFL since but is currently the vice president of player personnel for the XFL.
Colbert has been in charge of the Steelers for the past 22 seasons. He plans to step down after the 2022 NFL draft.
