Staveley joins celebrations, Bruno's incredible gesture and Almiron gets an apology in Newcastle win

Newcastle United moved to within an inch of Champions League football on Thursday with a convincing 4-1 win over Brighton at St James' Park. The Magpies raced into a two-goal lead before half-time but suffered somewhat of a scare after the interval.

Thankfully late goals from Callum Wilson and Bruno Guimaraes saw Newcastle over the line in style as attention turns to Liverpool's clash with Aston Villa on Saturday when it comes to guaranteeing a top four spot.

Here are the moments you may have missed from the 4-1 victory as Eddie Howe's men moved to within touching distance of the European promised land.

Bruno dedicates his goal

Bruno Guimaraes enjoyed a fine performance in the 4-1 win and topped it off with a late strike, sending all four corners of St James' Park wild. The Brazilian struck at the beginning of added time before wheeling away to the corner to celebrate with fans.

Bruno jumped on the advertising boards to take in the vast applause from the supporters before returning to the pitch and making the letter 'A' with his fingers in the directions of the Sky Sports cameras.

After the game, Bruno revealed the celebration was for Arthur Salters-Hoult, from Wallsend, who was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia early this year. Arthur is having to undergo the most intensive form of chemotherapy and the youngster may need a bone marrow transplant in the future.

A touching gesture from the Newcastle star.

Staveley joins the half-time celebrations

As fans left their seats to go and get a half-time pint and pie, or to put the kettle on at home, Newcastle United's Women's side took their place on the St James' Park turf to celebrate their FA Women's National League Division One North title win.

Amanda Staveley has been a huge champion of Becky Langley's side in recent months and was again involved on Thursday, taking her place at the centre of the team photo, along with Mehrdad Ghodoussi and Jamie Reuben.

Great to see such a fantastic show of support for the women's side, who are going from strength to strength in quick fashion.

Almiron's Paraguay clash

In the eyes of many Newcastle fans, Miguel Almiron was the Man of the Match on Thursday. The Paraguayan was in fine form throughout, showing his relentless work rate once again.

Almiron was up against a fellow countryman in the second-half as Julio Enciso entered the fray as part of a triple Brighton substitution. Enciso, a 19-year-old prospect with a huge future ahead of him, is a well-documented fan of Almiron due to his incredible stature back home.

However, the pair came to blows at St James' Park as Enciso pulled the Newcastle favourite to the floor in the second-half. Almiron, who rarely loses his cool, suddenly did lose his temper and had to be pulled away from his international team-mate after the incident.

The pair could be seen enjoying a chat and a laugh at full-time, and Enciso apologised to Miggy with a polite social media message after the game.

“I never want to fight with anyone. and especially with Miguel. For those that know me and the way I am know the respect I have for Miguel," Enciso wrote. "Still, I apologised, we apologised and now we’re fine. Miguel is an idol of mine, I adore him a lot and we both work hard to put our country at the top."
