Statements released as 'person trapped' after 3-vehicle crash on A52 near Nottingham

A crash involving two cars and a lorry has caused tailbacks on a busy Nottinghamshire road. A person has been trapped in a car following the incident which happened just before 8.30am on Wednesday, April 12, at A52 Clifton Boulevard.

Nottinghamshire Police has closed nearby roads, including the A52 Clifton Boulevard westbound while the scene is made safe. Drivers have been urged to look for alternative routes and bus services have also been affected as a result.

There have been no reports of life-altering or life-threatening injuries, the force said. Firefighters from West Bridgford and London Road were also called to the scene.

In a statement, a spokesperson for Nottinghamshire Police said: “Emergency services were called to reports of a crash on the A52 Clifton Boulevard at around 8.25am this morning (12 April). The collision involved two cars and a lorry.

"There are currently no reports of anyone suffering life-altering or life-threatening injuries. Police have closed nearby roads while the scene is made safe and we would like to thank motorists for their patience and understanding."

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service added in a statement: "We were called at 8.29am to a road traffic collision involving two cars and a lorry on Nottingham Knight roundabout.

"Firefighters from West Bridgford and London Road are on scene. One person is trapped in a car and we’re unsure of the injuries at this time."

A spokesperson for East Midlands Ambulance Service said: “We received a call at 8.31am on 12 April to the Nottingham Knight Island on the A52. The caller reported that there had been a road traffic collision. We sent a crewed ambulance and one patient was taken to Queen’s Medical Centre.”
