State to pay some of accused killer's legal costs

Prosecutors have upgraded charges over a woman's death to negligent manslaughter and the state will have to pay some of the accused man's legal fees due to delays.

John Torney, 40, faced Shepparton Magistrates Court on Tuesday via video link from prison over Emma Bates's death earlier this year.
