Kerala reported 354 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, when 17,360 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.
As on Tuesday, the active cases of COVID-19 in the State has dropped to 2,507. A total of 282 persons were reported to have recovered from the disease on the day. About 13% of the active cases are currently hospitalised.
On Tuesday, the total number of patients admitted with moderate or severe COVID in hospitals across the State stood at 212. New hospital admissions on the day were 60.
On Tuesday, the State declared three COVID-19 deaths, which had occurred in the last few days, but which were declared in the last 24 hours. The State also added 64 pending COVID deaths to the official list of COVID fatalities. These are deaths that have now been accepted as COVID deaths by the government as per the new guidelines of the Centre and following the appeals filed by families.
In all, the official cumulative COVID-19 case fatality in the State rose to 68,196. Of these, 32,372 (47.4%) deaths were added after October 2021, following the death reconciliation exercise. The State’s cumulative COVID-19 burden now stands at 65, 34,352 cases.
Among districts, Ernakulam reported the highest number of new cases with 94 cases, Thiruvananthapuram 79, Kottayam 31, Pathanamthitta 30, Kozhikode 30, Thrissur 25, Kannur 15, Kollam 14, Idukki 10, Palakkad 10, Alappuzha 8, Malappuram 7, and Wayanad one case. Kasaragod has no cases.
