'No real win': Labor 'takes bait' with crime crackdown

A former Labor election campaign boss turned leading pollster has slammed the political strategy behind one state's crime crackdown.

Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan hit go this week on harsher bail laws, a machete ban and expanded weapons search powers for police as part of sweeping legislative changes.
