Starz is looking to expand its popular Power franchise with a new prequel series titled Origins. This upcoming drama will focus on younger versions of Ghost and Tommy, two key characters from the original Power series portrayed by Omari Hardwick and Joseph Sikora. Sikora also stars in the spinoff Power Book IV: Force. Origins will mark the fourth spinoff of Power, following the success of Book II: Ghost, Book III: Raising Kanan, and Force.
As the Power franchise approaches its 10-year anniversary, Starz is excited about the strong connection fans have with the series. Kathryn Busby, president of programming at Starz, expressed enthusiasm for the new project, stating, 'We can’t wait to see how Origins will further evolve this dynamic franchise while bringing fresh, gripping, and expansive storytelling to our audience.'
The creative team behind Origins includes Raising Kanan creator and showrunner Sascha Penn, Power creator Courtney A. Kemp, Curtis '50 Cent' Jackson, and Mark Canton. Lionsgate Television is producing the Power shows, with the flagship series running for six seasons on Starz and the spinoffs continuing to captivate audiences.
Ghost's fourth season is scheduled to premiere later this year, while Raising Kanan is currently filming its fourth season. Additionally, Force has recently commenced production on its third season, showcasing the enduring popularity and success of the Power universe.
