Starstruck viewers 'cringing' for Olly Murs as tribute act leaves him 'lost for words'

Starstruck host Olly Murs saw triple during the latest edition of the ITV singing competion.

The former X Factor finalist, 37, was left 'lost for words' during Saturday night's show, when a trio of contestants took to the stage to pay tribute to him!

Olly - who has been forced to cancel his tour after a medical emergency earlier this week - watched on as three Starstruck contestants belted out one of his biggest hits.

Cabin crew member Simon, event singer Anthony and London Underground technician Luke teamed up to impress the judging panel with a rendition of Olly's 2011 smash hit single, Dance With Me Tonight.

As judges Adam Lambert, Beverley Knight, Jason Manford and Sheridan Smith danced along to the catchy bop, some viewers watching at home found the whole thing slightly 'cringe'.

"OMG this is cringeworthy singing in front of the actual person... #Starstruck," one fan took to Twitter to declare as the show aired.

Another seemingly agreed, adding: "Team Olly, that was proper cringe! #Starstruck."

"Nahhh there’s only 1 olly murs [awkward-face emoji] #starstruck," a third viewer tweeted on Saturday night.

Olly himself was seemed to be impressed by the tribute act's rendition, telling the musical trio he was 'lost for words' after their surprise performance.

"I'm lost for words, best team of the night," the Starstruck presenter told the hopeful team.

He then added: "I'm lost for words. I'm absolutely sweating, it's so weird."

Although some found the concept of contestants performing in front of the star they're mimicking 'cringe', plenty of viewers absolutely loved Team Olly.

"Luke was definitely closest looking and sounding to @ollymurs, and loved how the real Olly was like " thank you" bless him #starstruck," one Twitter user mused online, with another adding: "I love team Olly on #Starstruck."

Speaking in the VT before performing, one of the Olly tribute acts admitted to being a huge fan of the Heart Skips a Beat singer.

"I've been a massive fan of him for years, he's got the massive entertainment factor and I can't wait to bring his enthusiasm and entertainment to the show," Simon confessed to the cameras.

Simon, Luke and Anthony's performance of Dance With Me Tonight went down well with the Starstruck judges on Saturday night.

"That was great fun," comedian Jason told the hopeful trio, before having a cheeky dig at Olly, adding: "It's very rare on this show that we get people singing that's actually better, than, like, the real original!

"He's a very talented man and you three almost matched him. Well done."

Award-winning singer Beverley was in agreement with her fellow judge, telling the lads: "It's hard enough to stand on a stage like this in a space like this and emulate a star. But to do it in front of the star himself... big up yourselves!"
