Starstruck's Jason Manford cracks controversial Prince Harry joke on ITV show

Jason Manford caused a stir in the studio and amongst viewers at home when he cracked a joke about Prince Harry and the Royal Family on Saturday night's Starstruck.

Comedian, actor and former Masked Singer finalist Jason is on the judging panel for the new ITV talent show alongside Sheridan Smith, Adam Lambert and Beverley Knight.

Very much in a similar vein to classic programme Stars in their Eyes, Starstruck involves super fans of world famous musicians being transformed into them, before taking to the stage with two other hopefuls to perform one of their idol's hit singles.

So far there have been tributes to the likes of Billie Eilish, Freddie Mercury, John Legend and Celine Dion.

Starstruck has become a Saturday night guilty pleasure for millions over the last month and this week's episode saw a new batch of soundalikes aim to make the upcoming final.

Acts covered included Barbra Streisand and Whitney Houston and three Harry Styles fans also had makeovers to become the former One Direction star.

After the trio had performed Harry's song Watermelon Sugar, host Olly Murs crossed over to the panel to get their comments.

Jason was first to deliver his verdict and began: "wow! Three Harrys, it's like the Royal Family's worst nightmare"

As Olly chuckled and looked down at the floor, Sheridan Smith shouted: "You can't say that!"

Will his colleague Sheridan was quick to reprimand Jason for the joke, viewers at home lapped it up.

One swiftly tweeted: "‘Three Harrys? It’s like the Royal Family’s worst nightmare’ JASON MANFORD FIRING SHOTS AT THE ROYAL FAMILY YESSSSS"

A second reacted: "Naughty Jason Manford '3 Harrys the Royal Family's worst nightmare' and, having also seen Jason do a spot on impression of Gary Barlow, another fan commented: "Jason's on fire tonight with his jokes and impressions"

At the end of the show the judges chose Team Barbra as this week's winners, with one of the Streisand soundalikes advancing through to the final, which will be delayed as, just like Saturday Night Takeaway, Starstruck is cancelled next week because of ITV's rugby coverage.
