Stardew Valley patch finally stops unruly Switch 2 port from stealing precious inventory items while crafting, and makes the farming sim "obey" parental controls when you join GameShare

Stardew Valley.

As Stardew Valley creator Eric 'ConcernedApe' Barone continues working on the 1.7 update he unveiled late last year, the developer has some smaller fixes up his sleeve along the way – and the latest batch has arrived for Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 players.

ConcernedApe reveals as much in a recent online post, writing, "Stardew Valley: Switch 2 Edition bug fix patch in America region is available now," with the patch notes attached just below. "EU and JA full releases (which include this patch) will follow in a few weeks. Thank you for your patience."

The notes mention a fix for a bug where crafting items could remove incorrect ingredients from the inventory, improved mouse controls, and more.

They also address "some graphics corruption in Switch 2 GameShare," and amusingly, ensure the game will "obey parental controls" properly. No more bypassing the rules to stay up all hours farming (I definitely wouldn't have experience there).

That's not all, either – in a reply to his original thread, ConcernedApe confirms, "Also, there is a patch for Switch 1 which fixes the same crafting bug." So, no, normal Switch users haven't been left out. Other comments see him restating this directly to concerned fans having problems with crafting, like one player whose horse whistle is always "crafted as slime or jelly" – not very useful indeed.

There is also a plethora of folks shedding light on what could be other bugs, but, understandably, ConcernedApe hasn't gotten around to addressing them all. He is just one guy, after all… albeit one very talented guy.

I wonder what's next for Stardew Valley on the road to 1.7. Right now, we have the dev's reveal of the farming sim's two new marriage candidates to look forward to on February – an announcement that's excitingly set to come exactly one week from now – and perhaps more news on Haunted Chocolatier somewhere down the line as well.

It's a better time now than ever to be a cozy game stan, if you ask me, and I can't wait to see what the future holds.

Stardew Valley fan recreates wait for Haunted Chocolatier by sleeping for 1,000 years in the farming sim, wakes up to sea of giant mushrooms and chickens that are immortal, but understandably "grumpy"
