Starbucks barista leaves customer red-faced after writing 'smooth' message on coffee cup

A Starbucks customer has claimed she's "never going back" after a barista left a "secret message" on her coffee cup.

The woman took to TikTok to share the story after discovering the Starbucks worker was flirting with her.

More than 15 million people have since watched the video, which details a "smooth" message left on her coffee cup without her noticing.

In a video, the woman shows off the cup, which had "secret message" written on it alongside an arrow that travelled all the way down to the bottom.

At the bottom, text was circled which would usually tell customers: "Careful, the beverage you're about to enjoy is extremely hot."

But instead, the Starbucks employee had crossed out several of the words so that the message read: "Careful, you're extremely hot."

The woman, who posts on TikTok under the username @chance_twins alongside her twin sister, was left red-faced by the encounter.

She indicated she wouldn't be going back to the coffee shop because she couldn't face seeing the barista again.

"What just happened at Starbucks? Never going back there," she captioned the video.

Almost 9,000 people have since commented on the video, which was uploaded earlier this year and has since gone viral.

Commenters were divided over the gesture, as while some thought it was "cute", others wondered how many other people the barista had written the same message to.

One person said: "That was smooth, not going to lie."

While another added: "It's cute, girls say guys never do anything. He just put his heart out to you."

But a third found the message suspicious, as they wrote: "I'm wondering how many other girls he did that to."

Mirror UK has contacted Starbucks for comment.
