Michigan State will not have to play against one of the top defensive players in the country on Saturday night.
Matt Zenitz — a college football insider for 247Sports — reported on Saturday morning that star Michigan cornerback Will Johnson will not play against the Spartans. Johnson left last week’s game against Illinois with an injury and was considered questionable for playing against Michigan State early in the week.

Johnson is projected by many to be the top cornerback in next year’s NFL Draft. He is a former five-star recruit and when healthy has been a key player for the Wolverines this season.
Kickoff between the Spartans and Wolverines is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET. The game will be televised on the Big Ten Network.
