A new claim involving "Star Wars Eclipse" has surfaced, and it's not good news for fans and those who have been waiting for the game since it was revealed five years ago by its developer.
'Star Wars Eclipse' Is Still Years Away, said Insider
According to "Insider Gaming Weekly" podcast co-host Mike Straw, it was revealed to him that work on the game is moving very slowly, with hardly any progress made over a period of multiple months.
The majority of the work behind "Star Wars Eclipse" was said to have been completed at this point, but despite this, Quantic Dream is still moving significantly slow to finalize the project. Because of this unknown holdup, the insider claims that the game is not expected to be finished in several more years.
Since its unveiling five years ago, Quantic Dreams has had no updates since "Star Wars Eclipse's" teaser trailer dropped.
Straw has been unable to explain what the team is doing behind the scenes.
What Is Happening to 'Star Wars Eclipse' Development?
Straw also shared that Quantic Dream could be in trouble moving forward.
The studio's next game, "Spellcasters Chronicles," is slated to launch on PC sometime this year, and if that game fails to find success, NetEase may pull the funding for the studio. It can be recalled NetEase previously acquired Quantic Dream in 2022.
That said, it remains unconfirmed if "Star Wars Eclipse" may be affected should NetEase pull their funding, particularly as the game already used millions in its development budget.
For now, "Star Wars Eclipse" still has no release window and no confirmed platforms, though the game is expected to arrive on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC when it does eventually come out.
