A Star Entertainment boss has been grilled at a casino inquiry over whether there was a "deliberate strategy" at The Star Sydney to shift local players into an international rebate program in a bid to have the venue pay less gaming tax.
The NSW gaming regulator inquiry is probing into the fitness of Star to hold a Sydney casino licence and has so far prompted the resignation of Star CEO Matt Bekier, who stepped down last month in the wake of damning testimony.
The royal commission style inquiry was prompted by reports of Star enabling suspected money laundering, organised crime, fraud and foreign interference.
